Surfers will find many possibilities in Aquitaine to their hearts’ content. According to insiders the waves along the French southwest coast are among the best of Europe.

Especially Contis-Plage, Hossegor and Seignosse are well-known and in the late summer large international surf competitions are held here like the Rip Curl Pro and the Quicksilver Pro.

All through the year surf, body-board, long-board and bodysurf lessons for beginners and advanced students are taught here. There are various surf schools on the beaches of Contis-Plage and Cap de l’Homy.

Cycling

The extensive woods bordering Village Ocelandes lend themselves extremely well for wonderful cycling tours. In the immediate surroundings of the park there are various cycling tracks.

The tour to the beach of Contis is about 8 kilometres and takes you for the greater part through the woods.

Walking

Walking enthousiasts can make delightful walking tours across the beach or through the woods. Moreover three sorts of trails have been plotted by the Fédération Française de Randonnée Pédestre for hikers with more experience.

GR (sentiers de grande randonnée – long trails)
GRP (sentiers de grande randonnée de pays – regional trails)
PR (sentiers de promenade et randonnée – local trails)

The GR and GRP trails are meant for trained hikers. The GR runs through the Côte d’Argent from Lacanau tot Urt.

The short PR are easy and do not require any specific preparation. In Les Landes there are as many as 124 of them varying in length from 4 to 21 kilometres.

At the Tourist Office in Saint-Julien-en-Born you can buy walking maps.

Horse Riding

In the immediate surroundings of Village Ocelandes there is ample choice for a trip on horseback through the woods and fields.

On your way to Contis-Plage you find ‘Centre Equestre de Contis’. On the Route du Bayle in Saint-Julien-en-Born you will find ‘Ferme Equestre Kerdoen’. A little further on, beautifully hidden in the woods, is ‘Poney club du Grand Lio’.

Canoeing

At walking distance of Village Ocelandes you can embark on a canoe trip on the river ‘Le Courant de Contis’.

The trip lasts about two hours and finishes in the vicinity of Contis-Plage. Transport to the place of embarkation is taken care of.

Golf

While breathing the lovely wood and sea air you can play golf to your heart’s content on the various golf courses in the neighbourhood of Village Ocelandes.

Biarritz le Phare is situated on the Côte de Basque. This course has 18 holes spread across 5.4 kilometres and is favoured by professionals both at home and abroad. This course is regularly used for top tournaments.

Golf d’Arcangues distinguishes itself by its fantastic views of Basque landscapes. Here you can play a pleasant game of golf at the same time enjoying its surroundings when walking and playing on the course. The balance between open holes and holes hidden among the woods is perfect.

Seignosse is a course for all tastes. The fairways lined by oak and pinewoods form a challenge for every golf player. The various sand and grass bunkers as well as the various water gardens make this course very attractive.

Malika Golf Club Bassussary is surrounded by ancient oak trees and lies at the foot of the mountains. You are offered a choice from holes situated against the slope and holes lying on flat ground.

Moliets is partially built between the pinewoods of Les Landes (13 holes) and partially along the coast (5 holes). It is a fast course with bunkers of all shapes and sizes. Since 1998 Moliets has been an international training centre for the National Federation.

Biscarrosse Golf lies opposite the northern lake and has 2 parcours of 9 and 18 holes. It is an undulating course surrounded by woods.
